This is the 1st in a series of posts from my upcoming book, Your Golden Ticket to College in the USA, which explains every step in the process of saving you and your family tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars by going to a community college for your first two years as an international student and then transferring to a four year university for your bachelor’s degree. What’s a Golden Ticket?Back in 1971 a movie was released called Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. In the movie, a young boy named Charlie finds a golden ticket in his chocolate bar. This ticket allows him to visit the famous Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory with four other children from around the world.document.createElement('video');http://visausaexpert.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Willy-Wonka-And-The-Chocolate-Factory-Charlie-Finds-A-Golden-Ticket-1971.mp4Charlie gets to tour the factory and along the way he is tempted to be devious and taste candy he should not, but his heart is true, and at the end of the tour he is the only child who has not been removed from the magical factory. The owner, a magical man named Willy Wonka, tells Charlie that he was unable to trick Charlie into being dishonest so as a reward he gives Charlie a flight on a magic elevator spaceship and tells him that he is also giving him the entire chocolate factory where Charlie can live and stay forever with his family! In the USA, when you have amazing good fortune we call it ‘finding the Golden Ticket’.And that’s the opportunity you have as an international student who understands what a community college offers you the first two years of your USA education.Colleges For the CommunityThere are many college options here in the USA, but the most overlooked option for international students are our community colleges. Community colleges are two year schools that offer two types of degrees; Associates degrees (A.S. and A.A.) and technical career degrees in fields such as nursing, engineering technician, lab technician, etc. These two year colleges have been around since the 1900s. They were built to meet the education needs of communities around the country and were designed to get students prepared quickly for a career, or allow them to get remedial training and offer an inexpensive alternative for taking the first two years of courses towards a bachelor’s degree.Fortunately for you, the international student, these colleges have a lower value reputation here and they are sometimes referred to as 13th grade, or baby college. But why don’t more international students realize the benefits of a community college? Here are just some of the benefits of community college vs. a four year university:Smaller in size compared to four year universitiesOffer smaller class sizes with the average being 30 studentsOffer two year career degrees like nursing and engineering techniciansOffer two year transfer degrees (Associates) that transfer completely to four year universitiesAre extremely inexpensive, sometimes as much as 1/8 less than local universitiesTeachers all have at least Master’s degrees and do not use teaching assistants (TA’s)Offer open enrollment to all students with very few requirements like the SAT/ACT or TOEFLAllow any student to be accepted and start classes regardless of academic ability or economic situationProvide remedial classes to help students catch up in certain subjects if neededAlthough the benefits of community colleges are well documented, and even though almost half of college students today are attending a community college, these two year colleges are not truly considered competition to the four year universities in our country. And this is great news for you, the international student…Cheap And Easy Isn’t Valued in the USAThere are many reasons community colleges are viewed as inferior to four year schools in the USA, but the two main reasons are that community colleges are:Less expensive (cheap)Are not as selective as four year universities (too easy to get into). That doesn’t make much sense, does it?Community colleges are inexpensive and they don’t require tests like the SAT or the ACT or the TOEFL? That sounds like a great combination for any student doesn’t it?But in the USA, this also means that a community college education won’t impress people at cocktail parties; they aren’t prestigious and they indicate an education of lower value and worth. Most students, and parents, in the USA believe that if it didn’t cost much and almost anybody can get in, the education must not be good and therefore the perception of community colleges in our country is that they are inferior, lower value, cheap and easy. However, this perception of community colleges is great news for you, the international student, because you can take advantage of the unique opportunity that exists because community colleges continue to provide excellent education for extremely low prices. These colleges open the doors for international students to one of the finest college educations in the world at less than half the price of a four year university. How is this possible? Our False Perceptions Are ExpensiveThese misperceptions about community colleges continue to drive more and more students, many who cant afford to go to a university without substantial financial aid, to apply to high, middle, and even lower tier universities who are charging from $15,000 to $30,000 per year in tuition and costs. That’s right, in today’s competitive university industry – four years at a medium-cost university leaves a student with about $40 – $80,000 in student loans, resulting in our nation now holding more than $1 trillion in student debt.To make financial matters worse for our nation and our students, none of this student debt can be discharged or forgiven regardless of the student’s financial situation – this debt cannot be discharged even when a student claims bankruptcy here in the USA.Experts agree that today the average college student owes over $24,000 when they graduate a four year university. Meanwhile our recent college grads are struggling to find jobs that will help them survive, much less pay off their student loan debt in their lifetime. But the false perceptions about how beneficial four year universities are compared to community colleges are great news for you (and your parents and family) – the international student who dreams of getting their student visa and coming to the USA for their college education. These misperceptions of the value of a community college are creating what I call your Golden Ticket to a college education in the USA!What’s Magical About Community College?Even while paying out of state tuition for your degree, international students can take advantage of the abundance of community colleges in our country (there are over 1,000 right now) that offer open enrollment, high quality two year degrees that transfer completely to a four year university, at less than ½ the price of tuition to a four year university! In purely financial terms, this means instead of your parents and family paying an average of $74,000 for the first two years at a four year university, for less than half this price you can:Skip the SAT or ACT and score a minimum on your TOEFL proficiencyApply and get accepted into a two year community college easilyMore easily afford the tuition for two years at a community collegeBe able to provide financial documents when you go to your student visa interviewGet approved for your student visa and come to the USAStart classes towards your degree and know they will all transferGet remedial help if you need it to improve your skills in some subjects if neededComplete your first two years of courses without financial stress and strainSelect and apply to a four year university who accepts all of your two year creditsGraduate from your university of choice with a bachelor’s degreeEnjoy the benefits of a prestigious university for less than half the price! Can you see how as an international student you have a golden ticket waiting for you?Unwrap Your Own Golden TicketIn my upcoming book, every one of these steps is broken down into easy to understand instructions so any international student can follow them and be accepted into the community college of their choice.Remember, once you attend community college for your first two years almost every state in the US has agreements that universities will accept all of a student’s courses towards a bachelor’s degree when they apply to the university. So you and your family, if you follow the steps in my book, can eventually watch you walk down the aisle from Rutgers, or Princeton, or Virginia, or the Florida State University and receive your bachelor’s degree. All of you will be smiling because as an international student you were smart enough to realize that you paid far less than half of the four year’s tuition (average today to be close to $100,000+) because you took advantage of going to a community college first! This is the first in a series of information from my upcoming book, Your Golden Ticket to College in the USA, which explains every step in the process of saving you and your family tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars by going to a community college for your first two years as an international student and then transferring to a four year university for your final degree.Keep reading about how to unwrap and reveal your own Golden Ticket at gousavisacenter and please send me a comment if you have any questions or want to know more about anything I’ve written here on my site.GoUSA!– Sean
