When you apply for your student visa, the Department of State website confirms you must submit these forms and documentation (some of the details are explained below):Form I-20A-B (Certificate of Eligibility for Non-immigrant (F-1) Student Status for Academic and Language Students),– OR-Form I-20M-N (Certificate of Eligibility for Non immigrant (M-1) Student Status for Vocational Students).You will need to submit one of these SEVIS-generated Forms, I-20, which will be provided to you by your school once you are accepted and enrolled. You and your school official must sign the I-20 form. See the previous section for SEVIS information.Form DS-160 (Online Non-immigrant Visa Electronic Application) Visit my DS-160 post to learn more about the DS-160 online process.A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond the applicant’s intended period of stay in the United States (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions). If more than one person is included in the passport, each person desiring a visa must complete an application.One (1) 2 x 2 photograph. See the required photo format explained in Photograph Requirements;MRV fee receipt to show payment of the visa application fee.SEVIS I-901 fee receipt. Showing payment of the SEVIS I-901.You should be prepared to also produce:Transcripts and diplomas from any previous institutions you have attended,Your test scores required by your college such as TOEFL, SAT, GRE, GMAT, etc.;It’s critical that you are able to show you or your parents, or sponsor(s), have sufficient funds to pay for all your education, for every year of your studies. If you are working, bring your income tax documents and it’s a good idea to bring these for your family too if they are your sponsors.
