UK Does Not Want International Students
UK does not want international students anymore in their country. New laws banning work programs for students are just another nail in the coffin in the UK

UK Does Not Want International Students

Are we making it harder for foreign students to study here? The principal of Bilborough College says the UK is risking its reputation by not encouraging foreign students to come to the UK for their studies and once here, new laws ban their working and are forcing them to leave immediately after graduating.About 90 students each year travel to Bilborough College at the age of 16 from countries across the world to come and study with us, says the principle.Their substantial contribution allows us to cross-subsidise teaching and support services for our local students. This has become increasingly important recently as UK government funding per student has reduced year-on-year.We look after these students well. They live with local families in homestay accommodation. We attend to their personal needs and track their attendance, progress and progression routes very closely. As a result their performance is good and after their two years here they either move on to UK university or return to their country of origin. They are all genuine, high achievers who add a lot to the college and the local economy and act as ambassadors for us in the future. You might think from this that we were doing the right thing: following the government line by attracting overseas income, effectively “exporting” British education, boosting the balance of payments, and, what’s more, preparing our international students to study at UK universities where they will spend even more over the following three or more years.Click here to view the original web page at www.nottinghampost.com
