Getting Your USA Student VisaAfter you have been accepted into a college in the USA, you can now apply for a student visa which will allow you to enter the USA and begin your classes. You can not apply for a student visa of any type (F1, M, J1) until you are accepted by a college and the college sends you the required paperwork our government needs to begin your student visa process.Remember that the 1st step in the process of coming to the USA for your college is applying to a college in the USA. Our government will not give you a student visa (F1, M, or J1) unless you have been accepted into a SEVIS-approved college. How to Apply for Student VisaAfter being accepted to college, you must pay what is called the I-901 fee and get a receipt of this payment.You can find out all about how to pay this fee here.After paying the I-901 fee and getting a receipt, you can apply for a visa at any American embassy or consulate before you travel to the USA.You will find it a big help to read through the instructions available on the embassy or consulate website in the country where you are applying from, such as China, or Russia, or Brazil, for example. Complete the Online Visa ApplicationApplication – to apply for a student visa, go online and fill out the Non-Immigrant Visa Application, form DS-160. Click to learn more about completing this DS-160 form.1) You must complete the online visa application2) Print the application form confirmation page and bring it to your student visa interview at your embassy/consulate.Photo – you are able to upload your photo while completing the online Form DS-160. Your photo must be in the format explained in the Photograph Requirements. What’s Next?Now that you have been accepted into a college for a program of study, and you’re applying for a student visa, you must prepare for your student visa interview.You can be accepted into a program and have all of your student visa paperwork but you must be Approved after this interview or you could be Denied your student visa.
