Entering the USA - Visa USA Expert
Entering the USAWhen entering the USA, international students should carry their passport with visa stamp and I-20 or DS-2019 in their carry-on luggage on the airplane.Students will be given a WHITE arrival card (I-94) on the airplane that needs to be completed for the port-of-entry process. Information on the I-94 should be written clearly and match the information on the passport.Once you land at the airport, or your final destination depending on what type of transportation you are taking to get into the USA, the inspection officer should put a RED stamp on the I-20 or DS-2019 and the I-94 that includes the date of arrival, the visa status (F1 or J1) AND “D/S”.This stamp refers to the duration of status/stay that is needed for the student to complete the academic program. For current government guidelines on entering the USA, see the U.S. Department of Homeland Security fact sheet – Arriving at a U.S. Port of EntryGoUSA!– MikeAll information presented here is from my personal research and my attempts to save you time and money when pursuing your dream of coming to the USA to study.
